The Sacrament of Anointing (Unction). Singing the verses “Lord, I have cried” and the stichera, Lord, I have called to you, hear me

Singing the verses “Lord, I have cried” and stichera

After the small litany, the verses of Psalm 140 are sung: Lord, I have called to you, hear me. Hear me, Lord. Lord, I have called to you, hear me: listen to the voice of my prayer, sometimes I will cry to you. Hear me, Lord. May my prayer be corrected as incense before you: the lifting of my hand, the evening sacrifice. Hear me, Lord. And then verses from Psalms 141, 129 and 116 are sung or read, and the so-called “stichera” are chanted to them, that is, special hymns of New Testament content, in which the holiday or saint in whose honor the vigil is celebrated is glorified. During this singing, the deacon (or the priest himself, if there is no deacon) censes the altar and the entire temple in the image of those numerous sacrifices that were made in the Old Testament for thousands of years in propitiation for the sins of people and prefigured the One Great Redemptive Sacrifice offered on the cross the incarnate Son of God. At the same time, incense smoke also symbolizes the offering of our prayers to God. After remembering the creation of the world and the fall of our ancestors, the service of the all-night vigil thus leads those praying to the consciousness of their sins as a common illness of all humanity, descending from the fallen ancestor, and arouses in them a prayer for salvation, healing of their sinful illnesses and pardon. Since the thought of the Fall for us Christians is inextricably linked with the thought of the atonement accomplished by the sufferings of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, the Old Testament verses containing a plea for forgiveness and deliverance from the oppression of sin are joined by the New Testament stichera, which are dedicated to the glorification of events that save us or the righteous who have already acquired salvation for themselves through the atoning sacrifice of the Lord.

These stichera are usually called stichera on the Lord, I cried. At Sunday vigils there are always ten stichera on “Lord, I cried” (it is said: “stichera for 10”), on other holidays there are eight (“stichera for 8”). In the Book of Hours we find corresponding indications of the place where these stichera are inserted. Namely: before the 10th verse from the end: “Bring my soul out of prison” there is a note “for 10”; before the 8th verse from the end: “Out of the depths I cried...” a note was made: “at 8.” This means that, having reached this verse, one must add, starting from it, to each subsequent verse one stichera, which are printed: Sunday ones in the Octoechos, and holiday ones in the Menaion, or the Lenten and Colored Triodion.

On Sundays, when there is neither a holiday nor a celebrated saint, 7 stichera from the Octoechos and 3 stichera from the Menaion are taken for the day's saint.

If the saint is sixfold (that is, he is assigned 6 stichera in the Menaion), then 6 Sunday stichera are taken from the octoechus, and 4 for the saint.

If on Sunday there is a forefeast or afterfeast, or the giving of a holiday, then only 4 Sunday stichera are sung, and the remaining 6 are from the Menaion, 3 of which are forefeasts or afterfeasts, and 3 are sung to the saint of the day; in the case of giving the holiday 6 to the holiday.

If on Sunday there is a forefeast or post-feast and a saint with polyeleos, then only 3 Sunday stichera, 3 stichera of the forefeast or holiday and 4 to the polyeleos saint are sung.

There are never more than 10 stichera at an all-night vigil.

During the Lenten and Colored Triodion, instead of the stichera for the daytime saint, the stichera of the Triodion are added, depending on the number of them, usually 3 or 4. If during this period a saint happens to have a polyeleos, then 3 (or 4) are added to him due to the Sunday stichera of the Octoechos.

It is necessary to know that the Sunday stichera of Octoechos during the period of the Colored Triodion are not in the ordinary voice, but in the one indicated for a given week, but are printed in the same row in the Triodion itself.

In all doubtful cases, it is necessary to consult in the so-called “Mark chapters”, which are placed in the 48th chapter of the Typikon, the so-called “Monthly Word”, and are also printed in a row in the Menaions and at the end of the Lenten and Colored Triodion. “Mark's chapters” are articles written by Hieromonk Mark, who lived in the second half of the 9th century in the monastery of St. Sava the Sanctified, near Jerusalem. These articles indicate how the divine service is compiled if the feasts of the Mother of God or after-feasts, or the celebration of the holiday, fall on Sundays and other similar coincidences. “Markov’s chapters” are marked with a large letter “M” in the margin.

VERSES CALLING TO THE LORD
Lord, I called to You, hear me. / Hear me, Lord.
Lord, I have called to You, hear me: / Hear the voice of my prayer, / Sometimes I will cry to You. / Hear me, Lord.
May my prayer be corrected, / like incense before You, / the lifting of my hand, / an evening sacrifice. / Hear me, Lord.
Bring my soul out of prison, to confess to Your name. (SUNDAY):
By Your Cross, Christ the Savior, / the power of death was destroyed, / and the deception of the devil was abolished, / but the human race, saved by faith, / always brings a song to You.
The righteous are waiting for me, until now reward me.
All things were enlightened / by Your Resurrection, O Lord, / and paradise was again opened, / and all creation, praising You, / always brings a song to You.
From the depths I cried to You, Lord, Lord, hear my voice.
I glorify the power of the Father and the Son, / and I sing the power of the Holy Spirit, / the indivisible, uncreated Divinity, / the Trinity of One Essence, / reigning forever and ever.
Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my prayer.
We bow to Your venerable Cross, O Christ, / and we sing and glorify Your Resurrection. / By Your wound we are all healed.

(TO THE NEW RUSSIAN MARTYRS AND CONFESSORS):
If you see iniquity, Lord, Lord, whoever stands; / for You have purification.
Rejoice, new martyrs and confessors of Russia, Orthodox fertilizer, new slaughtered lambs, champions and guardians of the faith, intercessors for us to God without shame, in the last years of suffering the imitators of the first martyr appeared, pillars of patience and steadfastness, ask for great mercy on our souls.
For Thy name's sake I have endured Thee, O Lord; my soul has endured in Thy word; / my soul trusteth in the Lord.
Rejoice, glorious passion-bearers, in the footsteps of the ancient martyrs who followed in the footsteps of faith, for the sake of faith you labored firmly in the cruel times of our land, and now you all strive for the glory and praise of God, who strengthened your weak nature and enriched you with the gifts of the Spirit, for the salvation of our souls.
From the morning watch until the night, from the morning watch, / let Israel trust in the Lord.
Come, our heavenly representatives, to us, those who await your merciful visit, and deliver the embittered, tormenting rebuke and fierce fury of the infidels, from whom, like captives and Nazis, we are driven from place to place, often transiently and erringly in dens and mountains. Be generous, O praises, and grant us weakness, quench the storm and extinguish the indignation against us, praying to God, who grants you great mercy to our Earth.
For the Lord has mercy, and He has great deliverance, and He will deliver Israel from all their iniquities.
To the Hierarch Father Tikhon, the long-suffering archpastor, in a time of fierce godless persecution, you, a faithful child of the Russian Church, consoled and called upon you to stand courageously for Christ and the Orthodox Faith, while you yourself, dying for your flock all the days, appeared as an unshakable confessor. For this reason we glorify you with love.
Praise the Lord, all nations, praise Him, all people.
To the true shepherd, Hieromartyr Vladimir, when lawlessness forced you to retreat from the Russian Church, you remained faithful in deed and word to Saint Tikhon and, like a sacred sacrifice, from Kyiv, the mother of Russian cities, you offered yourself to God, praying for those who were killing you. For this reason we diligently glorify you.
For His mercy is established upon us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever.
Hieromartyr Benjamin, the true son of the Church of Christ and Her blessings, a zealous zealot, against the false shepherds trying to plunder your flock, you became courageous and, not afraid of the reprimand and false testimony of the tormentors, you turned judgment on the head of those who judged you, and by your death you established Orthodoxy. For this reason, we will diligently please you.
(TO THE NEW MARTYRS):
The Most High Master, glorified and worshiped in the Trinity, has been generous with the favorable prayers of Your new martyrs, who before their tormentors boldly confessed You, the only true God, and Yours, the Son of God, the ineffable incarnation of salvation from the Virgin Mother.
Why don’t we marvel / at Your Divine Nativity, Most Honorable One? / For you did not accept the temptations of man, O All-Immaculate One, / for you gave birth to a Son in the flesh without the Father. / Previously born from the Father without a mother, / having undergone no change, / or confusion, or division, / but both beings / retaining their properties intact. / Likewise, Mother of the Virgin Lady, / Pray for the salvation of the souls / who confess Thee to the Orthodox Mother of God.

PAREMIA OF NEW MARTYRS
Acts of the Holy Apostles, chapter 4:5-21 (translating to Russian language)
In those days their rulers and elders and scribes, and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and the rest of the family of the high priest, gathered together in Jerusalem; and, placing them in the middle, they asked: by what force or by what name did you do this? Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: Leaders of the people and elders of Israel! If today we are asked to answer in kindness to a weak man, how he was healed, then let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him he has been set before you healthy. He is the stone that was neglected by you builders, but has become the head of the corner, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Seeing the courage of Peter and John and noticing that they were unlearned and simple people, they were surprised, meanwhile they recognized them that they were with Jesus; seeing the healed man standing with them, they could not say anything contrary. And having ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin, they reasoned among themselves, saying: What should we do with these people? For everyone living in Jerusalem knows that they have performed a clear miracle, and we cannot deny this; but, so that this will no longer be disclosed among the people, we will forbid them with a threat, so that they do not speak about this name to any of the people. And having called them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all about the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them: Judge, is it right before God to listen to you rather than to God? We cannot help but say what we saw and heard. They, having threatened, released them, not finding an opportunity to punish them, because of the people; because everyone glorified God for what had happened. For the man on whom this miracle of healing happened was more than forty years old. Having been released, they came to their own and recounted what the high priests and elders had told them. Having listened, they unanimously raised their voices to God and said: Sovereign God, who created heaven and earth and the sea and everything that is in them! Thou, through the mouth of our father David, Thy servant, said by the Holy Spirit: Why are the pagans troubled, and the nations plotting vain things? The kings of the earth rose up, and the princes gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ. For verily in this city Herod and Pontius Pilate with the Gentiles and the people of Israel were gathered together against Thy Holy Son Jesus, whom Thy anointed, to do that which Thy hand and Thy counsel had predestined to be. And now, Lord, look upon their threats, and grant to Your servants to speak Your word with all boldness, while You stretch out Your hand to heal and to do signs and wonders in the name of Your Holy Son Jesus. And through their prayer, the place where they were gathered was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Second Epistle of St. Paul the Apostle to Timothy, chapter 4:1-8
My son Timothy, I charge you before God and our Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom: preach the word, be persistent in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires they will heap up for themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they will turn away their ears from the truth and turn to fables. But be vigilant in everything, endure sorrows, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. For I am already becoming a victim, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; and now there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who loved His appearance.

Epistle of St. Apostle Paul to Hebrews, chapter 11:33-40
Brethren, all the saints by faith conquered kingdoms, did righteousness, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were strengthened from weakness, were strong in war, drove away the armies of strangers; wives received their dead resurrected; others were tortured without accepting liberation in order to receive a better resurrection; others experienced insults and beatings, as well as chains and prison, were stoned, sawn apart, tortured, died by the sword, wandered in mantles and goatskins, suffering disadvantages, sorrows, and bitterness; those whom the whole world was not worthy of wandered through deserts and mountains, through caves and gorges of the earth. And all these, who testified in faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.

THE QUIET LIGHT (EVEN SONG TO THE SON OF GOD)
Quiet light of holy glory, / Immortal, Heavenly Father, / Holy Blessed Jesus Christ. / Having come to the west of the sun, / having seen the evening light, / we sing of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, God. / Thou art worthy at all times / to be a reverend voice, / to the Son of God, giving life, / in the same way the world glorifies Thee.

GOD BLESS
Grant, Lord, that this evening we may be preserved without sin. Blessed art thou, O Lord, God of our fathers, and praised and glorified is thy name forever. Amen.
May Thy mercy be upon us, O Lord, as we trust in Thee. Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach me by thy justification. Blessed art thou, O Lord, enlighten me with thy justification. Blessed are You, Holy One, enlighten me with Your justifications.
Lord, Your mercy endures forever, do not despise the work of Your hand. Praise is due to You, singing is due to You, glory is due to You, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

VERSES ON LITIA(TO THE NEW MARTYRS):
We are in despair for the sake of life and not imams of virtuous character, like myrrh, we offer to You, Lord, the prayers of our holy relatives. Do not reject Rus', Holy from ancient times, who now suffers fiercely for the sake of our sins. Do not despise the tears of the faithful sons, who did not bow their knees to Baal, and whom You did not strike when they sinned. Receive us, the repentant, O God, Thy saints with your prayers.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Come, lovers of martyrdom, come, let us form a face, triumphantly and glorifying God on the joyful feast of the new martyrs and confessors of Russia, for these have not shirked sorrow, nor been afraid of prison, bitter labor, hunger and cold, and slain by manifold torments, like lambs of kindness, they have accepted death. And now in the joy of the saints they pray to the Triune God for their earthly fatherland.
And now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. (THE BORN OF THE SUNDAY):

VERSES ON SUNDAY VERSES:

For establish the universe, / which does not move.
This God is unchangeable, / Thou hast changed through suffering in the flesh, / His creation cannot bear to see Him hanging, / bowing down in fear, / and groaningly sings Thy long-suffering: / having descended into hell, Thou hast risen for three days, / bestowing life on the world, and great mercy.
Holiness befits Thy house, / Lord, throughout the length of days.
May you, O Christ, deliver our race from death, / thou hast overcome death: / and thou hast risen from the dead for three days, / thou hast raised up with thee, / those who knew Thee: / and thou hast enlightened the world. / Lord, glory to You.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

GOSPEL READING
MARK CHAPTER 16:9-20(translating to Russian language)
In those days, having risen early on the first day of the week, Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom he cast out seven demons. She went and told those who were with Him, weeping and mourning; but when they heard that He was alive and that she had seen Him, they did not believe it.
After this he appeared in a different form to two of them on the road when they were going to the village. And they returned and told the others; but they didn’t believe them either.
Finally, he appeared to the eleven themselves, who were reclining at the supper, and reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw Him risen. And he said to them: Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; and whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will take snakes; and if they drink anything deadly, it will not harm them; They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
And so the Lord, after talking with them, ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went and preached everywhere, with the Lord’s assistance and strengthening the word with subsequent signs. Amen.

SEEN THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST:
Having seen the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the Holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless one. We bow to Your Cross, O Christ, and we sing and glorify Your Holy Resurrection. For You are our God, do we know You otherwise, We call Your name. Come, all you faithful, let us worship the Holy Resurrection of Christ; Behold, through the Cross joy has come to the whole world; Always blessing the Lord, we sing His Resurrection, having endured the crucifixion, destroy death through death.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Through the prayers of the apostles, O Merciful One, cleanse our many sins.
And now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Merciful One, cleanse our many sins.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity.
Jesus rose from the grave, as He prophesied, to give us eternal life and great mercy.

SONG OF THE HOLY VIRGIN
My soul magnifies the Lord / and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

As if you have looked upon the humility of Your servant, / behold, from now on all your generations will bless Me.
The most honorable Cherub / and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, /
without corruption of God the Word, who gave birth, / the present Mother of God, we magnify You. For you have created greatness for Me Mighty, / and holy is His name, / and His mercy endures throughout all generations of those who fear Him.
The most honorable Cherub / and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, /
without corruption of God the Word, who gave birth, / the present Mother of God, we magnify Thee.
Create power with Your arm, / squander the proud thoughts of their hearts.
The most honorable Cherub / and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, /
without corruption of God the Word, who gave birth, / the present Mother of God, we magnify Thee.
Cast down the mighty from the throne, / and lift up the humble, fill the hungry with good things, / and let go of the rich.
The most honorable Cherub / and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, /
without corruption of God the Word, who gave birth, / the present Mother of God, we magnify Thee.
Israel will receive His servant, / remember his mercies, / as he spoke to our fathers, / Abraham and his seed, even unto the ages.

Praise the Lord from heaven, / praise Him in the highest. / A song to God is fitting for you.
Praise Him, all His Angels, / praise Him, all His Powers. / A song to God is fitting for you.
To create judgment in them is written, this glory will be to all His saints. (SUNDAY):
Come, all you nations, / understand the terrible mysteries of power: / Christ is our Savior, Who was the Word in the beginning, / will be crucified for our sake, and will be buried, / and risen from the dead, who can save all things: / Let us worship Him.
Praise God in His saints, praise Him in strengthening His power.
Thou hast told all the wonders / Thy watchmen, O Lord, / but filled the council of vanity with their right hand, / to hide Thy resurrection for me, / which the world glorifies: have mercy on us.
Praise Him according to His strength, praise Him according to the abundance of His majesty.
Full of joy / having received the temptation of the resurrection: / Mary Magdalene came to the tomb, / found an angel sitting on a stone, / shining with her robes and saying: / why do you seek the living with the dead? / There is no here, but there is an east, like the speech, / leading you to Galilee.
Praise Him with the trumpet, praise Him with the psaltery and the harp.
In Thy light, Master, / we will see the light, Lover of mankind: / for Thou art risen from the dead, / Granting salvation to the human race: / that all creation may glorify Thee, the One Sinless One, / have mercy on us.
Praise Him in the tympanum and face, / Praise Him in the strings and organ. (NEW MARTYRS):
Oh, glorious miracle! In the last times, the martyrs shine and the charms drive away the darkness, the Christian faith now rises and wickedness falls, they rejoice in the faithful and form a holiday for the newly-minted, crying out to Christ God: the praise of the martyrs and the victory are You, O All-Powerful One.
Praise Him with the cymbals of good will, praise Him with the cymbals of shouting. / Let every breath praise the Lord.
Armed with the armor of faith, and the shield of grace, and armed with a copy of the cross, the opposing forces are invincible and, like the Divine warrior, the demonic militia is victorious, you rejoice with the angels, but the faithful stand up, and sanctify, and save, you are called upon.
O Lord, our Lord, how wonderful is Your Name throughout all the earth.

To the saints who are on His earth, the Lord surprises all His desires in them.
Oh, glorious miracle! With the miracles of the lordship of the sun, our most holy relatives shine with the end of the Russian land, from the non-evening Light, their clouds are driven away from our country by their radiance, barbarism is driven away and demons are defeated.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Magdalene Mary / who preached the good news from the dead with the Resurrection and the Appearance, / the disciple who did not believe, was reproached for her hardness of heart: / but armed with signs and miracles, / she was sent to preach, / and you, Lord, have ascended to the initial light of the Father, / they preaching the word everywhere, assuring miracles. / Having thus been enlightened by those, / we glorify Your resurrection from the dead, / O Lord who loves mankind.
And now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Blessed are you, O Virgin Mother of God, Who incarnated you, fearing that hell was captivated from you, Adam cried out, took an oath, Eve was freed, death was slain, and we are revived. Thus we cry hymnically: blessed is Christ God, who is so well-willed, glory to Thee.

LITURGY
Council of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia

1st antiphon:
Bless the Lord, my soul, Blessed are you, O Lord. Bless, my soul, the Lord, and all that is within me, His holy name. Bless the Lord, my soul, and do not forget all His rewards. Who cleanses all your iniquities, who heals all your illnesses. He who delivers your belly from decay, who crowns you with mercy and bounties. Who fulfills your desires for good: your youth will be renewed like an eagle. The Lord is generous and merciful, long-suffering and abounding in mercy. Bless the Lord, my soul, and all that is within me, His holy name. Blessed are you, Lord.

2nd antiphon:
Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord in my belly, I will sing to my God as long as I am. Do not trust in princes, in the sons of men, for there is no salvation in them. His spirit shall depart and return to his land: in that day all his thoughts shall perish. Blessed is he who has the God of Jacob as his helper; his trust is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea and everything that is in them; keeping the truth forever, bringing justice to the offended, giving food to the hungry. The Lord will decide the chained; The Lord makes the blind wise; The Lord raises up the downtrodden; The Lord loves the righteous; The Lord protects strangers, He will accept the orphan and the widow, and He will destroy the path of sinners. The Lord will reign forever. Thy God, O Zion, unto generation and generation.
Only Begotten Son, and the Word of God, He who is immortal, and who deigned for our salvation to be incarnate from the Holy Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary, immutably made man, crucified Christ God, trampling death by death, the One of the Holy Trinity, glorified to the Father and the Holy Spirit, save us.

Blessed:
In Your Kingdom, remember us, O Lord, when You come to Your Kingdom.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for to them is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are those who cry, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blesseds of mercy, for there will be mercy.
Blessed are those who are pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for these shall be called sons of God.
Blessed is the expulsion of truth for the sake of them, for those are the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile you, and mistreat you, and say all sorts of evil things against you, who lie to Me for my sake.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is abundant in heaven.

During the small entrance with the Gospel:
Come, let us worship and fall before Christ.
Save us, Son of God, risen from the dead, singing Ti: Alleluia.

Troparion for Sunday, tone 3:
Let the heavenly ones rejoice, / let the earthly ones rejoice; / as the Lord created the power / with His arm, / trampled down death by death, / became the firstborn of the dead; / deliver us from the belly of hell, / and bestow great mercy upon the world.

Troparion of the New Martyrs, tone 4:
Today the Russian Church joyfully rejoices, / glorifying the new martyrs and confessors: / saints and priests, / royal passion-bearers, / noble princes and princesses, / reverend men and wives / and all Orthodox Christians, / in the days of the godless persecution, / their lives for faith in who laid down Christ/ and kept the truth with his blood./ Through those intercessions, long-suffering Lord,/ preserve our country in Orthodoxy// until the end of the age.

Sunday Kontakion, tone 3:
Thou hast risen today from the grave, O Generous One, / and thou hast lifted us up from the gates of mortals; / today Adam rejoices, and Eve rejoices, / together the prophets and patriarchs sing unceasingly / of the Divine power of Your power.

Kontakion of the New Martyrs, tone 3:
Today the New Martyrs of Russia/ in white robes stand before the Lamb of God/ and with the Angels they sing a victorious song to God:/ blessing, and glory, and wisdom,/ and praise, and honor,/ and strength, and strength/ to our God// forever and ever. Amen.

APOSTOLIC AND GOSPEL READINGS

Second Epistle to the Corinthians of the Holy Apostle Paul, chapter 6:16-7:1
Brethren, you are the temple of the living God, as God said: I will dwell in them and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be My people. Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean; and I will receive you. And I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. Therefore, beloved, having these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Epistle to the Romans of the Holy Apostle Paul, chapter 8:28-39 (To the New Martyrs of Russia):
Brethren, we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. And those whom He predestined, those He also called, and those He called, them He also justified; and those whom he justified, he also glorified. What can I say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also freely give us all things with Him? Who will accuse God's elect? God justifies them. Who is judging? Christ Jesus died, but also rose again: He is also at the right hand of God, and He intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of God: sorrow, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? as it is written: For Your sake they kill us every day; we are counted as sheep doomed to the slaughter. But we overcome all this through the power of Him who loved us. For I am confident that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor the present, nor the future, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

LITURGY OF THE PRECONACTED GIFTS

This liturgy is so named because for the communion of believers it is used presanctified and drunk with the Blood of Christ Lamb. This Lamb is usually consecrated at the previous liturgy of Basil the Great or John Chrysostom.

This liturgy is celebrated on Wednesdays and Fridays of Great Lent and on the first three days of Holy Week.

The establishment of this liturgy dates back to the first centuries of Christianity, but in the form in which it has come down to our time, it was set out in writing by Saint Gregory the Great, Pope of Rome, called the Double-Speaker, who lived in the 6th century after the Nativity of Christ, before the Western Church fell away from the Eastern Church. .

Vespers at the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts - before the Small Entrance - is performed according to the usual rite.

After singing the anthem The light is quiet the reader in the middle of the church reads two proverbs: one from the book of Genesis, telling about the creation of the world, the fall of Adam and Eve and its unfortunate consequences, the other from the Proverbs of Solomon.

After the first paremia, the priest, standing before the throne, appears at the royal doors, holding a censer in his hands and a candle standing in front of the Holy Gifts, makes the sign of the cross over the people and proclaims:

Wisdom! Sorry!

The light of Christ enlightens everyone!

With these words, the priest points to that Divine Light, which in the Old Testament, before the coming of Jesus Christ to earth, enlightened, among the pagan darkness of ignorance of God, the Old Testament forefathers and prophets.

At this blessing, those present bow to the ground, thereby expressing their reverence for the Eternal Light, illuminating all the ends of the earth.

After the second paremia, three singers separate from the choir and, standing in front of the royal doors, sing the following verses from the 140th Psalm of David:

May my prayer be corrected as the incense before You, the lifting of my hand, the evening sacrifice.

Translation: Let my prayer be directed like incense before Thy face, and the lifting of my hands like the evening sacrifice.

Lord, I have called to You, hear me: listen to the voice of my prayer, sometimes I will cry to You.

Translation: God! I appeal to You: hurry to me; listen to the voice of my prayer when I cry to You.

Set, O Lord, a guard over my mouth, and a guard over my mouth.

Translation: Set, O Lord, a guard over my lips, and guard the doors of my mouth.

Do not turn my heart into words of wickedness, and do not bear the guilt of sins.

Translation: Do not let my heart turn aside to evil words to excuse sinful deeds.

Always- When.
Nepshchevati- think, invent, count.
Guilt- apology, justification.

The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts itself begins with the litanies of the catechumens. After the litanies, the royal doors open and instead of the Cherubic Song the choir sings:

Now the powers of heaven serve with us invisibly: behold, the King of glory enters, behold, the secret sacrifice is completed. Let us approach by faith and love, so that we may be partakers of eternal life. Alleluia.

While singing this song, the Holy Gifts are transferred from the altar to the throne, and all those present bow to the ground, thus paying due veneration to the Body and Blood of Christ. During this transfer of the Holy Gifts, there is no commemoration of the members of the Church, since it was done at the liturgy when the Holy Gifts were consecrated. Following the Great Entrance follows the preparation of the faithful for communion, communion itself, thanksgiving for communion and the end of the liturgy, according to the order of the liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.

Sacrament of Anointing (Unction)

DIVINE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SACRAMENT.

The Epistle of the Apostle James says: “If any of you is sick, let him call the elders of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will heal the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him” (James 5:14-15).

Unction is performed on believing sick people who are able to consciously accept it and participate in prayer for themselves.

There are almost no people who do not know what a disease is. But not everyone realizes that illness is a consequence of sin, which corrupts life. It is useless to treat the body if the soul is sick.

Even if our treatment is carried out by experienced doctors, God provides healing. The Lord is able to heal any person according to his faith, but to heal everyone - both soul and body.

Unction exists in the Church for this reason, so that when a person begins to heal the body, he does not forget about the soul and the cause of illness - sin.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE COLLECTION.

The Sacrament of Anointing is preceded by Confession and the Sacrament of Communion. It is necessary to consciously repent of your sins and have the determination to renounce them.

But not all moral causes of illness are clear to the patient; on the contrary, many of them are hidden from the judgment of his conscience. These sins, covered in the darkness of ignorance, darkening the soul of the patient, are cleansed by the Sacrament of Unction.

Usually on a small table there is everything the priest needs to perform the sacrament. On this table you can place

A lit candle is held in the left hand. It is better to take it in a sufficient size. The neckline of clothing at the neck should not be hollow (upper chest is anointed) and you can cover it with a clean napkin so as not to drip on your clothes, and then burn this napkin with traces of oil or give it to church workers for burning. If you wish, your own jar of vegetable oil. This consecrated oil can later be anointed with prayer on sore spots and eaten. (previously consecrated oil cannot be used again in Unction).

Those approaching the Sacrament of Anointing should remember the words of St. Ignatius (Brianchaninov): “... the ailments that God sends to man are sent according to God’s special

mercy, like bitter healing treatments for the sick in soul; they contribute to our salvation much more surely than miraculous healings.”

HOW THE SACRAMENT IS PERFORMED.

The visible side of the sacrament is that the priest anoints the sick person with oil seven times in a cross shape: the forehead, nostrils, cheeks, chest and arms on both sides.

At the same time, the prayer is read: “Holy Father, Physician of souls and bodies, having sent Your only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who heals every ailment and delivers from death, heal Your servants (names) from the bodily and mental infirmity that holds them, and revive the grace of Thy Christ."

The rite of consecration of oil begins with the singing of troparions and a canon explaining the power of the sacrament. Excerpts from the Apostolic Epistles and the Gospel are read seven times, and seven prayers. And it ends with a prayer absolving sins.

At those moments when the priest goes around the congregation and anoints them, they sing:

“My Lord, my joy, grant that we may rejoice in Your mercy:

Hear me, Lord, hear me, Master, hear me, Holy One.

Have mercy on me, Lord, have mercy on me, Master, have mercy on me, Holy One.

Heal me, Lord, heal me, Master, heal me, Holy One.”

Orthodox prayers

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, Who is everywhere and fulfills everything, Treasure of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Good One, our souls.

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.

Virgin Mary, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with You; Blessed are You among women and blessed is the Fruit of Your womb, for You have given birth to the Savior of our souls.

It is worthy to eat as you truly bless Thee, the Mother of God, the Ever-Blessed and Most Immaculate and the Mother of our God. We magnify You, the most honorable Cherub and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption.

May God rise again, and may His enemies be scattered, and may those who hate Him flee from His presence. As smoke disappears, let them disappear, as wax melts from the face of fire, so demons perish from the face of those who love God and signify themselves with the sign of the cross, and in joy say: Rejoice, Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, drive away the demons by the power of our drunken Lord Jesus Christ on you, who descended into hell and trampled upon the power of the devil, and who gave us His Honest Cross to drive away every adversary. Oh, most honorable and life-giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Virgin Mary and with all the saints forever and ever. Amen.

Expresses deep contrition for the sin committed and a fervent prayer for mercy.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. To You alone have I sinned and done evil before You; for you may be justified in all of Your words, and you will always triumph over Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, you have loved the truth; You have revealed to me the unknown and secret wisdom of Yours. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. My hearing brings joy and joy; humble bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a broken and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; Then they will place the bullock on Your altar.

Prayer in a dangerous situation.

Living in the help of the Most High, he will settle in the shelter of the Heavenly God. Says the Lord: Thou art my Protector and my Refuge, my God, and I trust in Him. Yako Toy will deliver you from the snare of the trap, and from rebellious words. His cloak will overshadow you, and you will trust under His wing. His truth will surround you with a weapon, you will not be afraid from the fear of the night, from the arrow that flies in the days, from the thing that passes in darkness, from the cloak and demon of the midday. Thousands will fall from your country, and darkness will fall at your right hand, but it will not come close to you. Look before your eyes, and you will see the reward of sinners. For You, O Lord, are my hope, You have made the Most High your refuge. Evil will not come to you, and wound will not come close to your body. As His Angel commanded you, keep you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their arms, but not when you dash your foot against a stone. Tread on the asp and the basilisk, and cross the lion and the serpent. For I have trusted in Me, and I will deliver; I will cover and because I have known My name. He will call to Me, and I will hear him; I am with him in sorrow, I will destroy him and glorify him; I will fill him with long days, and show him My salvation.

And grant us with a watchful heart and a sober thought to live the whole night of this life, in anticipation of the coming of the bright and glorious day of the second coming of Your Only Begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, when the common Judge will come with glory to reward everyone according to his deeds. May He not find us lying down and sleepy, but awake and working in fulfilling His commandments, and ready to enter with Him into the joy and divine palace of His glory, where the unceasing voices of those who triumph are heard and the inexpressible joy of those who see the inexpressible beauty of Your face. For You are the true Light, enlightening and sanctifying the whole world, and all creation sings to You forever and ever. Amen.

Let faith instead of works be imputed to me, O my God, for works cannot be found to justify me. But may my faith replace everything: may it answer, may it justify, may it make me a participant in Your eternal glory. And do not allow Satan to kidnap me, O Word, and boast that he has torn me away from Your hand and fence. But whether I want it or not, You, Christ, save me, for You are my God from my mother’s womb. Hasten to help me, for I am perishing.

Grant me, O Lord, now to love You as I once loved sin itself, and without laziness to serve You as I previously served the flattering Satan. May I serve You even more diligently, my Lord and God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

In all my words and deeds, guide my thoughts and feelings. In all unforeseen cases, do not let me forget that everything was sent down by You. Teach me to act directly and wisely with each member of my family, without confusing or upsetting anyone.

I know, Lord, that I unworthily partake of Your most pure Body and Your honorable Blood, and I am guilty, and I eat and drink condemnation for myself, not realizing that this is Your Body and Blood, Christ and my God. But, trusting in Your mercies, I come to You, who said: “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood, he abides in Me, and I in him.” “Have mercy, O Lord, and do not expose me, a sinner, but deal with me according to Your mercy, and may this Shrine serve me for healing, cleansing, enlightenment, for the protection, salvation and sanctification of soul and body, for driving away all dreams and evil deeds and attacks of the devil, acting through thought in me - into boldness and love for You, into correcting life and strengthening it, into increasing virtue and perfection, into fulfilling the commandments, into communion with the Holy Spirit, into guidance into eternal life, into favorable The answer at Your Last Judgment is not condemnation.

God! Let go, resolve, forgive my sins that I have committed in word, deed, thought, voluntarily or involuntarily, consciously or unconsciously, and, as a merciful and philanthropic person, grant me forgiveness in everything. And through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother, Your intelligent servants and holy powers (angels) from the beginning of the world who have pleased You, deign me, without condemnation, to accept Your holy and most pure Body and honorable Blood for the healing of soul and body and for the purification of my evil thoughts. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Sovereign Lord! I am not worth it for You to enter under the roof of my soul, but since You, as a lover of mankind, want to live in me, I approach with boldness. You command that I open the doors created by You alone, and You should enter into them with Your characteristic love for mankind. You come in and enlighten my darkened thoughts. I believe that You will do this, for You did not withdraw from the harlot who came to You with tears, did not reject the publican who brought repentance, did not drive away the thief who knew Your kingdom, and the persecutor who turned to You, did not leave what he was , but You placed all those who turned to You through repentance among Your friends. You alone are blessed always, now and forever. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, my God! Let go, resolve, cleanse and forgive me, Thy servant, sins, crimes, falls and everything that I have sinned from my youth to this day and hour - consciously or unconsciously, in words, deeds, intentions, thoughts, activities and in all my feelings. For Thine is the kingdom, power, honor and worship, together with the Father and Thy Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

I am already standing before the doors of Your temple, and unclean thoughts do not leave me. But You, Christ God, Who justified the publican, who had mercy on the Canaanite woman and who opened (opened) the doors of paradise to the thief, open to me the doors of Your love for mankind and accept me, who comes and touches You, as a harlot and a bleeding woman. As soon as one touched the hem of Your garment, she immediately received healing; the other, grasping Your most pure feet, received remission of her sins. I am the accursed one, who dares to accept Your whole body, so that I will not be scorched (burned). But accept me like those two, and enlighten the feelings of my soul, burning away sinful inclinations, through the prayers of She who immaculately gave birth to You and through the prayers of the heavenly powers. For You are blessed forever and ever. Amen.

Son of God! Honor me today to be a partaker of Your mystical Supper. I will not reveal the sacraments to Your enemies, and I will not give You a kiss like Judas, but like a thief I will confess You. Remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom! May the communion of Your most pure Mysteries be not a condemnation for me, O Lord, but a healing of soul and body. Amen.

Lord Christ God, King of the ages and Creator of all! I thank You for all the benefits that You have given me in accepting Your most pure and life-giving sacraments. Lord Jesus Christ, our God! May Your holy body be for me eternal life and Your holy blood for the remission of sins. May this (supper) thanksgiving be for me joy, health and joy. Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, my joy! I thank You for deigning me, unworthy, to partake of the most pure Body and honorable Blood of Your Son. But, having given birth to the true light, enlighten the spiritual eyes of my heart! Producing the source of immortality, revive me, killed by sin! As the merciful Mother of a merciful God, have mercy on me and grant to my heart tenderness and contrition, to my thoughts modesty and liberation from the captivity of my thoughts. Grant me, until my last breath, to uncondemnably accept sanctification with the most pure sacraments for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and confession, so that I can sing and glorify You all the days of my life; for You are blessed and glorified forever. Amen.

Now do You let Your servant go, O Lord, according to Your word, in peace; For mine eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared before the face of all people, a light to enlighten the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel ( Onion. 2:29-32).

Not so wicked, not so: but they are like dust that is swept away by the wind from the face of the earth! Therefore the wicked will not stand in judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

I said: Lord! Have mercy on me, heal my soul, for I have sinned before You. My enemies said evil things about me:“When he dies, and his name perishes!” And if ( Who) came to see ( me), then he spoke a lie, his heart contained iniquity. And when he went out, he conspired with his enemies: they whispered against me, they plotted evil against me. They made a criminal word against me ( speaking :). “Will he who lies down rise again?” Even a man friendly to me, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, lifted up his heel against me. But You, Lord, have mercy on me and strengthen me, and I will repay them. From this I know of Your favor towards me, that my enemy will not triumph over me. And out of my kindness, You accepted me and established me before You forever. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting!

Bring joy and gladness to my hearing, and humble bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Sovereign Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from ( spills). blood, O God, God of my salvation! And my tongue will joyfully praise Your righteousness. God! Open my mouth, and they will declare Your praise. If You wanted a sacrifice, I would give it, ( But). You do not delight in burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a contrite and humble heart.

Bless Zion, O Lord, according to Your good pleasure, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then you will be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the wave offering and the burnt offering, then they will lay bulls on Your altar.

Turn, Lord! How long? Have mercy on Your servants. May we soon be satisfied with Your mercy, O Lord, may we rejoice and be glad all our days, ( as a reward) for the days in which You humbled us, for the years in which we saw evil. And look upon Thy servants, Thy creatures, and instruct their sons. And may the light of the Lord our God be in us, make us prosper in the work of our hands, prosper us in the work of our hands.

“Because he trusted in Me, I will deliver him, I will hide him, for he has known My name. I am with him in sorrow: he will call upon Me, and I will hear him, I will deliver him and glorify him, I will satisfy him with long days and show him My salvation. “

The Lord shows mercy and truth to all those who are offended. He showed His ways to Moses, to the children of Israel - desires (laws). Their. The Lord is generous and merciful, long-suffering and abounding in mercy. He will not be completely angry and will not be indignant forever. He did not deal with us according to our iniquities, nor did He repay us according to our sins. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is the mercy of the Lord towards those who fear Him. How far is east from west? so). He has removed our iniquities from us. As a father has mercy on his sons, so the Lord has mercy on those who fear Him. For He knows our nature, remembers that we are dust. Man's days are like grass; like a wildflower, so it fades. The wind will pass over him, and he will be no more, and he will not find his place. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness is on the sons of sons, who keep His covenant and remember His commandments to do them.

The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over everything. Bless the Lord, all His angels, mighty in strength, who do His word, who hear His voice. Bless the Lord, all His armies, all His servants who do His will. Bless the Lord, all His works, in every place of His dominion. Bless the Lord, my soul!

Give the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love to me, Your servant ( bow).

Lord my King, let me see my sins and not condemn my brother, for You are blessed forever and ever. Amen ( bow).

Prayer for the sick: Lord Almighty, Holy King, punishing and not killing, raising those who fall and elevating the overthrown, healing the bodily illnesses of people. I pray to You, our God, Your weak servant ( Name) visit with Your mercy. Forgive him for every sin, voluntary or involuntary. Yes, Lord, send Your healing power from heaven, touch His body, extinguish the heat, tame suffering and all the infirmity hidden in it. Be Your servant's doctor ( Name), raise him up from the bed of illness, from the bed of suffering in health and strength. Grant it to Your holy Church who pleases and does Your will. For it is Your nature to have mercy and save us, our God, and to You we give glory, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving: Lord Jesus Christ our God, God of all mercy and generosity, whose mercy is immeasurable and whose love for mankind is an immeasurable abyss! We, falling before Your greatness, with fear and trembling, like unworthy slaves, bring thanks to You for the mercies shown to us. As the Lord, Master and benefactor, we glorify You, praise You, sing and magnify You and, falling down, thank You again! We humbly pray to Your ineffable mercy: just as now You have accepted our prayers and fulfilled them, so in the future let us succeed in love for You, for our neighbors and in all virtues. And make us worthy to always thank and glorify You, together with Your beginningless Father and Your all-holy, good, and consubstantial Spirit. Amen.

Prayer before traveling: Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the true and living way! You accompanied Your imaginary father Joseph and Your most pure Mother the Virgin Mary to Egypt, and also accompanied Luke and Cleopas to Emmaus! Now we humbly pray to You: Most Holy Master, accompany us, Your servants, with Your grace. And, like Your servant Tobiah, send a guardian angel and mentor, preserving and delivering us from every accident, from visible and invisible enemies and instructing us to fulfill Your commandments. For it is Your nature to have mercy and save us, and to You we exalt glory with Your beginningless Father and with Your most holy, good, and life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer for children. God, our merciful heavenly Father! Have mercy on our children ( names), for whom we humbly pray to You and whom we entrust to Your care and protection. Put strong faith in them, teach them to revere You and deign them to deeply love You, our Creator and Savior. Guide them, God, on the path of truth and goodness, so that they do everything for the glory of Your name. Teach them to live piously and virtuously, to be good Christians and useful people. Give them mental and physical health and success in their work. Deliver them from the cunning machinations of the devil, from numerous temptations, from evil passions and from all wicked and disorderly people. For the sake of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, through the prayers of His Most Pure Mother and all the saints, lead them to the quiet haven of Your eternal Kingdom, so that they, together with all the righteous, will always thank You with Your only begotten Son and Your life-giving Spirit. Amen.

Prayer to end the quarrel: Lord Jesus Christ, our God, you gave a new commandment to your disciples, so that they love each other! Accept this prayer for the remission of the sins of all of us, Your servants. Renew the love that has dried up in us with Your Holy Spirit, so that, fulfilling Your commandments, we care not about our earthly goods, but about Your glory and the benefit of our neighbor. For You are our leader and savior, and we give glory to You with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer from evil thoughts: See prayer to the Mother of God “Blessed Lady” (see above).

Prayer for learning difficulties: Lord our God, look upon your servant ( Name). and send upon him the spirit of wisdom, reason and piety and enlighten him with the light of Your prudence, so that he will quickly understand and assimilate the subjects he is studying and use them for the good of Your Church, for the benefit of his neighbors and for his salvation. Because You are the source of wisdom, and We always give glory to You, now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.

What should you pray for? In prayer, we must thank God for His great mercies towards us, the unworthy: for the fact that He created us and this beautiful world, for constantly taking care of us and giving us everything we need for existence, for the fact that He once saved us from misfortunes and directs our path to eternal blissful life for the sake of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. In prayer we should ask God to help us in our daily work and activities in order to have everything we need for life, to keep us and our family members healthy, to direct our activities for good and, most importantly, to save our souls. The Gospel says: “ What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul, or what ransom will a man give for his soul?”

Prayer has great power; it connects the worshiper with almighty God. Therefore, we must pray carefully and reverently, remembering that we are talking with the Creator of heaven and earth, Whom the Angels serve with trepidation. To do this, we need to concentrate during prayer so that our heart feels the truth of the words being spoken. Such prayer “in spirit and truth” is pleasing to God. Holy people who knew how to pray to God with concentration and deep faith performed great miracles through prayer.

In addition to God, in prayer we call on the Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, and the holy saints of God. They are our heavenly patrons and intercede for us before God.

Just as the body needs air, water and much more, so the soul needs prayer. In it she joins divine grace, is transformed, renewed and strengthened in virtue.

Sometimes it can be difficult to achieve the necessary concentration. This is natural: our mind and feelings are accustomed to wandering here and there. And prayer requires internal discipline and composure. Like all good things, the ability to pray is acquired through hard work and perseverance. Therefore, let us force ourselves to pray earnestly so that prayer becomes an integral part of our lives. Then we will see from personal experience what great power it has and how much peace and spiritual joy it brings!

The sacrament of repentance has a powerful regenerating power. The Lord himself promised the apostles and their successors: “ Whose sins you forgive, they will be forgiven; those whose sins you retain, they will remain.” (John 20:23). In this case, it is assumed that the person repents sincerely, with pain in his soul, with a firm intention to fight temptations and live piously.

When preparing for confession, a person must remember his sins and pray to God to forgive him and help him correct himself. In confession, all sins are named, without self-justification or concealment. The list of sins attached here can help a Christian prepare for confession.

Mental and sensory sins. I have sinned before You, Lord, by ingratitude to You for Your mercies, by forgetting Your commandments and by indifference to You. I sinned by lack of faith, doubt in matters of faith and freethinking. I sinned through superstition, indifference to the truth and interest in non-Orthodox faiths. I sinned with blasphemous and nasty thoughts, suspicion and suspiciousness. I sinned by attachment to money and luxury items, passions, jealousy and envy. Forgive and have mercy on me, Lord.

I sinned by enjoying sinful thoughts, thirsting for pleasure, and spiritual relaxation. I sinned with daydreaming, vanity and false shame. I sinned with pride, contempt for people and arrogance. I sinned with despondency, worldly sadness, despair and murmuring. I sinned with irritability, rancor and gloating. Forgive and have mercy on me, Lord.

Sins in words. I sinned with idle talk, unnecessary laughter and ridicule. I sinned by talking in church, by using the name of God in vain, and by judging my neighbors. I sinned with harshness in words, grumpiness, and sarcastic remarks. I sinned by being picky, insulting my neighbors and bragging. Forgive and have mercy on me, Lord.

I sinned with indecent jokes, stories and sinful conversations. I sinned by murmuring, breaking my promises and lying. I sinned by using swear words, insulting my neighbors and cursing. I sinned by spreading defamatory rumors, slander and denunciations.

Sins by deed. I sinned by laziness, wasting time and not attending divine services. I sinned by frequent lateness to services, careless and absent-minded prayer and lack of spiritual fervor. He sinned by neglecting the needs of his family, neglecting the upbringing of his children and failure to fulfill his duties. Forgive and have mercy on me, Lord.

He sinned through gluttony, overeating and breaking fasts. I sinned by smoking, drinking alcohol and using stimulants. I sinned by being excessively concerned about my appearance, looking with lust, looking at obscene paintings and photographs. I sinned by listening to violent music, listening to sinful conversations and indecent stories. He sinned through seductive behavior, masturbation and fornication. He sinned with various sexual perversions and adultery. I sinned with the love of money, the passion for gambling and the desire to get rich. I sinned with passion for my career and success, self-interest and extravagance. I sinned by refusing to help those in need, by greed and stinginess. I sinned through cruelty, callousness, dryness and lack of love. He sinned by deception, theft and bribery. He sinned by visiting fortune-tellers, invoking evil spirits and performing superstitious customs. Forgive and have mercy on me, Lord.

THE CAUSE OF DISEASE IS SIN .

WHAT TO BRING.
